About
Nacho Visiers, between technique and water
“A watercolourist trapped in an engineer’s body.”
— as a client once described me
I am an industrial engineer and have spent much of my life among calculations and drawings. I painted as a young man and returned to watercolour a few years ago. Since then it has become my dedication.
I paint from life and from photographs, travel with my sketchbook and keep training every week. I am drawn to architecture and the memory of cities — above all the Madrid of past decades —, the sea and boats, and everyday scenes that tell a story.
My painting is a bridge between technique and creativity: the structure of drawing and the freedom of water, living on the same sheet. My watercolours have become gifts for friends, private commissions and presents that some companies give their clients.
How I work
I start with a precise drawing of the architecture, inherited from my engineering years, and resolve it with water: wet-on-wet in skies and seas, glazes to build light and reserved whites so the paper can breathe. Pen and ink refine the detail at the end.
